UNBEATEN START FOR ROTHLEY JUNIORS

All age groups at Rothley Park Cricket Club are currently unbeaten a month into the new season with the under 13’s, under 15’s and under 17’s all through to the district semi final stages of the cup for the first time in the clubs history.

Junior manager Steve Thomason said ‘The success is due to a number of factors; a good structure for training and support, dedicated and passionate managers at each level, players who are willing to better themselves and grow in confidence and a fantastic team spirit. It also helps being based at the prestigious Rothley Park venue.’

Under 17’s managed by Martin Williams are through to the district semi finals of the cup having beaten Old Dalby, Egerton Park and Quorn. Notable performances of 71 not out and 76 not out from Chris Beall, 4 wickets for 3 runs from little Tommy Beswick and a hat trick from big George Richardson.

Under 15’s managed by Steve Thomason reached the district semi finals by convincingly beating Crown Hills by 35 runs. Rothley made 102-4 with James Ang making 30 and Chris Bulmer 29. Crown Hills were bowled out for 67 with spinner duo George Vernon taking 3 wickets for 2 runs and Tommy Beswick taking 4 wickets for 16 runs.
